"Coaches help to keep the importance of literacy across all content areas in the forefront.  The Common Core State Standards is not a fad, and the demands on teachers and students alike are going to cause some challenges and growing pains.  Coaches can be the support that schools need.  They can help to unpack the many changes that are currently taking place in Education. Teachers needn't work in isolation.  In fact, we know through research that collaboration is key.  While many teachers would love more time to meet with colleagues, their schedules often make that impossible due to increasing demands.  Coaches can create those collaborative opportunities."

"The greatest gift the PIIC conference offered me was the opportunity to network with other coaches.  From the very beginning to the very end, I was able to learn what was working in other parts of the state and with other coaches.  I now have contacts to further the discussions on my own time and within the PIIC framework.  I have new book recommendations, new strategies to try, and new friends for further collaborating. All of that is very exciting!"

"This is a true learning community. I always feel supported and believe that my coaches feel supported, as well. The structure of the PLO provided opportunities for sharing, learning, and problem-solving."

"The questioning session was wonderful! It was packed full of things I could take back and share with other coaches!"

"The small and intimate nature of this PD allowed new coaches and experienced coaches to share tips and strategies in a very safe environment... people were willing to participate and be very open.  I think that the idea of regional or cross IU's  collaborating could be very valuable for coaches and for mentors."

"The pacing and the variety were great! I think the breakout sessions are the perennial favorite of most of my coaches. It honors the choice and voice, which is vital when working with adult learners."
